i am writing about the poor services of rent a center. This store is one of the most highly unorganized, minority ran, unprofessional and classless place i have ever taken my business to. i am a customer who so stupidly returned to their store for merchandise in which i had every intention of owning in the future. although i must say that the poor service and the way this store is being operated is causing me to find greater alternatives. i once rented from this God for saking place before and i must admit, due to certain circumstances, i was unable to keep up with my payments. well, that was in 05 and things have changed now, so i decided to give them another try. i mean the offer was rather intriguing considering they send you advertisments in the mail stating, " come back and pick up where you left off"!! whoopee, i thought. so i went back with intentions of getting my "customer satisfaction" and i must say, that is soooo an understatement.

I made 2 payments in less than a month. i made the 2nd payment on may 12th 2006 and didnt recieve my furniture until th 17th. the furniture in question was supposed to have been delivered on the 12th: i let that slide, trying to be considerate of them maybe being busy. so it was said to be at my place of residency on the 17 of may between 12pm and 2pm.... 12pm no furniture, on through 2pm, no furniture...4 phone calls, the same answers of, "they're on their way", me growing more and more impatient, more calls, cancellations of my plans, being told that i wasn't getting my bed because it wasn't added to the order the day i signed the paperwork, growing imaptient and frustrated because now it is 8:00pm. they say that they'll give me a free week because they're tired and had to go to the storage for my order.

i demanded to get my furniture delivered that day to a manager named J. who basically let me know very nonchelantly that it really didn't phase him if i suggested to call corporate. in which i did but didn't get an answer from the time called or aftr the message i left. so i then finall get the furniture around 9:15pm, by some guy who supposed to be new and was said to have not been able to find my apartment and a veteran who flirted with me the whole time they were tranferring the furniture from the truck to my place. the bed that the lady added to my order for that night was used and abused with no rails. they layed it FLAT on the floor!!! handles were missing, and my file which was supposed to be taken back to the store was left at my place for TWO DAYS!! the flirty one came two days later to retrieve his files and bring me the bed rails.

i finally get my furniture and have to lay on a used mattress and watch my television for a whopping 2 weeks and i then get a call about making a payment for the furniture. now mind you, i was given a free week and i agreed to pay bi-weekly for the t.v and monthly for the bedset.... they tell me that i HAVE to pay bi-weekly because whoever completed my information placed my first payments based as bi-weelky. so when im thinking they're helping me, they're really scamming me for my 224.04 in which i paid them for only two weeks of furniture time and i already have a payment due!!! what the..... but anyways, idecided to share some of my story with the world being that i can't, for the life of me reach the corporate offices via phone, fax, or anything. then on top of that the store manager told me that i probably didn't recieve a response because i was late a year ago on a prior account. then when i stated that i was trying to contact their headquarters, he stated " that doesn't PHASE me a bit, call me bck in 15 minutes i'm dealing with a customer'. as if i'm not a customer.

Rude Rude Rude people, unprofessional, money-hungry and no customer service etiquette what so ever. People my peopl, if ever you shall run into a center such as this on please be warned that they only care about making sales and litterally dropping off your furniture. say no to bad businesses and yes to greatness. now im not sying every rent a center is a shameful mess, but this one is #1 in my book. Thank you for reading and have a blessed day!!

Give the furniture back

Give the furniture back. If you are sleeping on a used mattress, they can't get the account straight and don't care about service they don't deserve your money. In any event the amount you will eventually pay to "own" this furniture outright is many more times the cost of the furniture new.

Give it back. Go to a thrift store, buy used furniture for a time. Save the money you would be paying Rent-a-hassle and over time you can easily replace the used items with new ones.

I agree...

Aafes - Viernheim, Europe my old friend, it seems we regularly post on the same threads. I will have to say, I completely agree with Aafes on this one. I would return the furniture and try to do business with someone more willing to see me as a customer as opposed to a $$$$ sign. I also recommend looking for cheap buys at the rental stores, sometimes when they get in new items to rent, they sale the older models for cheap. I bought my couch set that way, it was used in an office building and is in impeccable condition, probably not much use before and I have had it for over 4 years (I use it all the time, smile!!) and it still looks great and is in good condition. Good luck!!
